I'm an explorer when it comes to pursuing my artistic endeavors. Creativity has always been a strong drive that I love to get lost in. I crave projects that are going to teach me new techniques and push me to explore an innovative approach. I get restless doing projects that are too similar to each other, so I thrive on combining techniques and finding something unexpected. Painting allows me to combine all of these aspects because it is so versatile. I like to draw, quilt, build, re-purpose, practice calligraphy, and have recently discovered Zentangle, but painting is the purest artistic expression for me. Above all, I flourish by showing others that they have more ability than they think they do when they receive a little guidance.

Despite my enjoyment of painting and sketching, I gave it up for years due to my own striving for perfectionism. But then I realized that I had paralyzed myself out of fear and there was no positive trade-off for that sacrifice. I am committed to treating mistakes as opportunities for growth and to having fun and enjoying the creative process as it unfolds. I want the people at my events to find their own spark and discover that art can be a wonderful release from one’s comfort zone. There are no real consequences for experimenting at Paint Nite, so why not leave the overly critical eye behind and have a great time by painting something that is both fun and explorative?
