James Giddings

My name is Jimmy Giddings. I am an early childhood teacher, a volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club, and an avid reader. I have been working with children for fourteen years, and one of the best methods of teaching I have found is through good literature.

I love reading, and that translates to the students and children that I work with as I carefully select books that will inspire children to think critically of their world, and showcase the wonders that reading offers. For the past few months I have been teaching online virtually to students and one of the best methods that I have found to keep children engaged in online learning is good books. Books can be read anywhere, and not just at school. Books are special, and unlock secret worlds and faraway places as they introduce young readers to the magic that exists. For pride this year I am going to be focusing on doing read aloud's to share with children around the globe the message that it's okay to be different, and we can celebrate the differences within each other and good books can help make that possible.
