Without the need for any real motivation, I decided to take a roadtrip from NY to the DMV last week to chill with fam.
While in route it was already decided that Friday we were hanging out. One of my nieces just moved and wanted to check out Nottingham's Tavern. When the day arrived, we all got ready for happy hour headed out to NT.
Upon arrival the space is very spacious with some regulars at the bar. The four of us grabbed a high-top and was introduce to Jasmine, our server who was new. She was very nice and was holding down here tables very well.
Now the DJ's were really good, I believe there were 3 gentlemen that rotated on the one's & two's. From the time we entered we barely sat down.
The food and drinks were another story. The drinks, with the exception of the bottled beers, were horrible. I ordered a bullet with ginger-ale and my god sister ordered a Kettle One vodka with pineapple, both were nasty. Since both drinks were only two ingredients I'm guessing that their ice might have been the problem. In addition there was a Don Julio drink and a Pumpkin Espresso Martini also not good.
The food was ok, it was pretty much typical bar food. We ordered the Chicken Nacho Basket, Wings (lemon pepper & buffalo), Southwest Chicken Egg-rolls and tots (they don't have fries... blasphemy!). I tried the tots, wings and egg-rolls. The wings were cooked well, as preferred, but the lemon pepper was absolutely too salty. The southwest egg-rolls were tasty. The tots were basic, again I'm stuck on the no french fries.
Overall atmosphere and tunes great, the food ok but the drinks are a Nah. Which is crazy because this is a bar. To top it off they over charged us for one of those nasty drinks. I asked Jasmine, who again was great, about it and showed her the bill. I was offered another drink, told her absolutely not, but that I wanted a refund and she could keep it. The bill was already paid and she deserved even extra.
Nonetheless we had a great time laughing and dancing.
Just A Note:
They have several things going on at once. There was karaoke and a comedy show schedule for that night. In addition they have pool tables towards the back.

This place sucks! We are in town from Colorado and wanted to see the nuggets play. Although this is not Mile High nation how can we not get a couple of TVs on the NBA playoff game. NFL draft is a big ticket item but why have all 30+ TVs on it. There wasn't a crowd and no one was watching the majority of the screens. I frequently travel and have never had a problem catching any of my teams at true sports bars even in rival towns. Thanks to the Green Turtle down the street for being a REAL sports bar for fans!!

First and foremost, this place has a great team. We keep coming back because of the bartenders and the overall atmosphere. We frequent this bar because it’s one of the only spots in Columbia that offers a late happy hour along with karaoke, DJs, and other entertainment.
That said, there are a few issues that need attention. Last summer — and it seems like it may continue this summer as well — the owner’s wife bartends on Friday nights at the outdoor bar. She is very sweet and does a great job, but every Friday she reserves four seats at the bar for family and friends. I wouldn’t have an issue with this if it happened occasionally, but it’s become a regular occurrence during the busiest nights of the summer.
The outdoor bar fills up quickly, and having four prime seats blocked off for hours until friends arrive is frustrating for paying customers who are unable to sit there. Reserving a nearby table instead of bar seats would be a much better solution and would create a fairer experience for everyone.
Another issue is the Hennessy situation. The bar advertises that they do not carry regular Hennessy in an apparent effort to upsell customers to VSOP. However, I personally watched a bartender pull out a regular bottle of Hennessy while I was sitting at the bar, which makes the policy confusing. Prices are already on the higher side once happy hour ends, so customers should at least be given the option to choose what they want.
I’m also a business owner, so I understand upselling and maximizing profits, but customer experience matters too. Nottingham’s has a lot of potential — the owners just need to take a closer look at a few things and compare their pricing and policies with other bars in the area.
