Painting a night sky that actually glows — that's the kind of thing I wasn't sure I could pull off the first time I tried it. With Milky Way in the Pines, we're building a whole cosmos: deep blacks bleeding into blues and purples, stars scattered across the canvas, pines silhouetted against it all.
It's really satisfying when it comes together, and I'll meet you where you are so it does. We're at Finn's Irish Pub, which is exactly the right place for a Monday night that doesn't feel like a Monday. Grab a pint, settle in, and watch that sky take shape.
No experience needed—just follow along step-by-step and leave with your own masterpiece. Whether you’re planning a girls’ night, date night, or just want to try something new, PaintNite at Finn’s is the perfect mix of creativity and casual fun.
TIMELINE – Please arrive on time. Duration 2-3 hours.
SEATING – First come, first served policy for seating. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early to order drinks and get a good seat. We'll be on the patio unless it rains/storms.
ACCESSIBILITY – Wheelchair accessible. Please contact Melanie ahead (if you are bringing a helper and require two seats) so she can accommodate you with the best space.
PARKING – Check in at Parktown Hotel front desk to validate parking.
KIDS – Legal drinking age only. For a younger audience, look at some our events at other venues.
FOOD – Order finger foods and drinks while you paint or come early and get a great pub meal!

Melanie enjoys encouraging people in their pursuit of creativity. Her training is in graphic design. She began painting outdoors in oils after moving to Saskatoon and also dabbles in watercolours. Yes. Milky Way in the Pines is designed to be achievable at any experience level. More satisfying than it looks difficult — Melanie breaks every step down clearly. Most of our guests have never picked up a brush before, and they leave with something they're genuinely proud of. Worth knowing: Paint Nite events happen at real bars and restaurants, not studios — it's a night out that happens to involve painting.
A painting class teaches you technique. Paint Nite gives you a finished painting and a good night. Melanie is a real local artist — not a teacher running a curriculum — and this event happens at Finn's Irish Pub (Parktown Hotel), a real local spot, not a studio. Paint Nite invented this format in 2012 and has sold more than 10 million tickets. The trade-off is honest: lighting varies, it can get loud, and the person at the next easel is a stranger. That's the point. It's more of a night out than a class.

Your ticket to Milky Way in the Pines includes the canvas, all the paint you'll need, the use of brushes and an apron during the event, and step-by-step instruction from Melanie. Drinks and food are ordered separately from Finn's Irish Pub (Parktown Hotel) — you pay the venue directly for anything you eat or drink.
Finn's Irish Pub (Parktown Hotel)'s doors open at 11:00 AM, the event starts at 6:30 PM. We suggest showing up by 6:00 PM to give yourself time to pick your seats, get a drink and maybe a bite before Melanie starts the painting.
You can reschedule your ticket to any other Paint Nite event up to 24 hours before this one starts. After that, tickets are locked — no refunds or changes. If Paint Nite cancels this event for any reason, you'll receive a full automatic refund.
