What Guests Are Saying
We went on a weekday at about lunch time and I must say we were highly astounded at the emptiness of the place. You can choose from inside or outside seating. Service was great as well as the food served, It is an ordinary restaurant with the exception that some German cuisine is served. There is an outside play area for the kids. Bathrooms were clean. With the plentiful available seatings observed, I presume it can be quite noisy at popular days/time. Can be visited with the family.
**★☆☆☆☆ | Out of touch and overpriced The service here is just as bad as most of the other reviews reflect, but honestly, the worst part about Kapstadt Brauhaus Menlo Park is how utterly disconnected they are from the local culture. No restaurant in Pretoria East charges R40 for a sauce that is supposed to come with the steak. I explicitly asked the waiter if they cook the steak with the sauce, and he replied yes—but they then separate the sauce and charge you extra for it! This might have been somewhat tolerable if the menu was cheap, but it isn't. They are significantly more expensive than the restaurant directly opposite them, which certainly doesn't nickel-and-dime you with an R40-R50 separate charge just for sauce. Management desperately needs to do some market research and comparative analysis to understand the dining culture in Pretoria East so they can operate on locally acceptable terms. Operating like this isn't just an example of bad service; in my opinion, it is actually offensive. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Our first visit and we will definitely be back. We have truly enjoyed our meal. Well worth the drive Thabiso was great!
